When it comes to public transportation, we're #1 in the nation, according to a list of the top 10 Best Cities for Public Transportation recently published by U.S. News and World Report. Denver and Aurora outranked big-name cities including New York (#2), Los Angeles (#3) and Boston (#4). RTD statistics show that metro Denver has 140 bus routes, five light-rail lines and roughly 10,000 stops — all covering a seven-county area the size of Connecticut. Rounding out the top 10 were Portland, Ore.; San Jose, Calif., tied with Salt Lake City; San Diego; Seattle; and Honolulu, Hawaii.
